Satish Sharma Urges Sub-District Hospital Status for Rajiv Gandhi Hospital

Jammu: On Tuesday, Pradesh Congress General Secretary Satish Sharma met Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary at the Secretariat in Kashmir to discuss pressing public issues, including a demand for Sub-District Hospital status for Rajiv Gandhi Hospital.

Sharma emphasized that granting this status to Rajiv Gandhi Hospital, Gangyal, is a vital step. As the population in Gangyal and nearby areas continues to grow, locals rely heavily on this facility for healthcare. He asserted, “The designation of Sub-District Hospital will enhance healthcare by attracting specialist doctors, expanding medical staff, and providing modern equipment.”

The current scenario forces residents to seek medical assistance in distant hospitals, often creating barriers to timely care. Sharma noted, “If Rajiv Gandhi Hospital is upgraded to Sub-District status, residents will gain access to essential healthcare services much closer to home.”

In addition to healthcare, Sharma expressed concerns regarding the deteriorating road conditions in Gangyal, requesting a comprehensive survey for blacktopping roads. He explained, “Daily difficulties plague students, local residents, and drivers due to these poor roads.”

Sharma also highlighted the urgent need for reconstruction of the damaged bridge over the canal at Bawaliana. The current state of the bridge causes significant commuting problems, especially during the rainy season, leading him to demand immediate repairs. The lack of action, he warned, risks further inconveniencing local commuters.

Additionally, road connectivity in Dadap Panchayat demands attention. Sharma urged that proper construction could transform the area by enhancing connectivity and stimulating local development. “The residents of Dadap Panchayat suffer greatly due to inadequate road access,” he lamented, underlining the critical nature of this infrastructure.

In response to the concerns raised, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary assured Sharma of prompt action. He committed to prioritizing these demands and issuing necessary directions to relevant officials for timely resolutions.

This meeting underscores the ongoing dialogue between local leaders and government officials aimed at addressing community needs. As Rajiv Gandhi Hospital awaits categorization as a Sub-District Hospital, residents seek improved healthcare access alongside enhanced local infrastructure.
