Rahul Gandhi Accuses Amit Shah of Parliament Avoidance in Student Protests

On Wednesday, Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi accused Union Home Minister Amit Shah of deliberately avoiding Parliament during the ongoing Monsoon Session. Gandhi claimed Shah’s absence stems from his culpability in the government’s mistreatment of protesting students.

In a post shared on X, Gandhi articulated, “The country’s Home Minister is hiding his face because he is guilty of wrongdoing against the students.” His declaration comes amidst ongoing protests spearheaded by Opposition parties concerning the Delhi Police’s aggressive tactics against students who participated in the July 20 “Sansad Chalo” march at Jantar Mantar.

The march, organized by the Cockroach Janata Party, aimed to address critical issues such as examination paper leaks and advocate for necessary reforms in the nation’s examination system. Opposition leaders have accused the police of employing undue force against peaceful demonstrators and have been vocal in demanding accountability from the Union government.

Amidst these mounting tensions, the Home Ministry and Amit Shah had not issued any responses to Gandhi’s allegations at the time of this report. The absence of a reply from Shah raises further questions about the government’s approach to student welfare and their right to protest.

Experts suggest that the current political climate reflects a deepening divide between the government and student bodies across the country. The protests signify not only immediate concerns regarding administrative reforms but also highlight the broader dissatisfaction among youth regarding governance and public safety.

As protests continue, many students express a growing frustration over government inaction and perceived indifference. The demand for transparency and accountability remains a central theme among the demonstrators, underscoring the significance of their grievances in contemporary Indian politics.

Political analysts emphasize that Shah’s engagement in Parliament during these critical times may be necessary to restore faith in the government’s commitment to the public’s interests, especially concerning educational reforms and student rights.
