Jammu Crime Branch Files Chargesheet in Visa Fraud Case

The Special Crime Wing (SCW) of the Jammu Crime Branch has filed a chargesheet against Kartik Choudhary for allegedly duping several individuals by falsely promising foreign employment visas. The chargesheet was submitted to the competent court on Monday, following extensive investigations into the case.

The case dates back to a complaint regarding a fraudulent Portugal work visa. Initially filed by a single complainant, the inquiry prompted six more individuals to step forward, all claiming similar deceitful practices from Choudhary, a resident of Purana Pind in Jammu’s RS Pura area.

The official spokesperson for the Jammu Crime Branch explained that the investigation revealed a pattern of fraud. Upon preliminary verification, investigators associated seven additional complainants with the case. They established that Choudhary had duped the victims, prompting a formal case registration against him.

To build the case, investigators meticulously examined a range of evidence, including bank records, cheque details, travel documents, and statements from the complainants and witnesses. Forensic material was also utilized, confirming discrepancies in the signatures linked to Choudhary.

In addition to this significant case, the Crime Branch registered another case involving a Srinagar-based enterprise accused of cheating clients over the non-execution of Modular Kitchen projects. Complaints surfaced from numerous individuals claiming they paid substantial amounts for kitchen installations that never took place.

The case stemmed from a complaint filed by a Sainik Colony resident, who alleged that Sajad Ahmad Wani, representing Messrs Choudhary Enterprises Forum in Srinagar, misled him into borrowing Rs. five lakh from J&K Bank specifically for a Modular Kitchen installation.

Despite the approval of the loan and the subsequent transfer of funds to the enterprise, no work was completed. The complainant reported that repeated requests went unanswered, and he was neither provided with his kitchen nor refunded the money.

Further investigations revealed that two additional complaints arose concerning the same enterprise’s failure to deliver promised Modular Kitchen projects after receiving payments. This led investigators to conclude that the allegations of cheating, criminal breach of trust, and conspiracy warranted formal legal action.

The spokesperson asserted that preliminary verification established a prima facie case against the accused in both instances. As a result, further investigations are underway to ensure all involved parties are held accountable.

Law enforcement officials urge anyone who has fallen victim to similar fraudulent schemes to come forward and aid the investigation. The Crime Branch has taken these complaints seriously and aims to provide justice to all affected individuals.
