This bill aims to offer penal protection to the National Song similar to that of the National Anthem, with a proposed punishment of up to three years, a fine, or both for intentionally disrupting their rendition.
According to the complaint, Sonia Gandhi allegedly made gestures that suggested she objected to the rendition of “Vande Mataram,” which occurred at Indira Bhawan. This specific incident garnered attention after it was supported by circulated video footage and coverage by various media outlets.
Further claims in the complaint assert that during the performance, Rahul Gandhi reportedly stated, “We are not singing Vande Mataram,” indicating a refusal to participate.
