A cloudburst in Kishtwar struck the Chatroo area around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, damaging several houses and structures. The sudden surge of water and debris followed a period of heavy rainfall that affected Jammu and Kashmir, officials reported.
Despite significant damage, officials confirmed there were no casualties or injuries. The immediate response team, led by the Station House Officer (SHO) of Chatroo, along with police and civil administration, began assessment and relief operations promptly.
The cloudburst coincided with ongoing moderate to heavy rain across the region. The Meteorological Department had issued earlier warnings suggesting the potential for flash floods, landslides, and other hazardous weather events in vulnerable areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
