Three suspected drug peddlers, including a 17-year-old boy, faced arrest in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba and Kathua districts for possession of heroin. Police reported the incident on Monday, underlining their ongoing efforts against narcotics.
A police spokesman revealed that officers intercepted the teenager on Sunday evening while he rode a motorcycle from Balole Khad towards JDA Colony in the Bari Brahmana area. The police promptly conducted a search, recovering 3.36 grams of heroin from the teenager’s possession.
The teenager’s arrest not only underscores the involvement of youth in drug trafficking but also calls for critical conversations about substance abuse among the younger population in India. Police seized the motorcycle used in the operation along with the contraband.

They arrested two additional narcotics smugglers at Galak in the Billawar area of Kathua district, recovering 23 grams of heroin late Sunday night. The arrested individuals are identified as Pawan Dev Singh from Majalta in Udhampur and Naresh Singh from Makwal-Ramkot in Kathua.
